Invisalign involves a series of custom-made, clear, BPA-free plastic aligners that exert controlled force on your teeth. Dr. Lee maps out the exact tooth movements and each aligner makes slight adjustments based on this prescription. Every one to two weeks you insert a new set of aligners and as you go through the series, your teeth gradually shift into place.
Does Invisalign hurt?
When you switch to a new set of aligners, you may feel some minor, temporary aching for a few days, which means the treatment is working and your teeth are moving into their new place.
Are there food restrictions with Invisalign?
There are no food restrictions with Invisalign. You can even chew gum (when the aligners are out). Just remove your aligners to eat, brush your teeth after and then pop them back in.
Can I smoke with the aligners in?
We don’t recommend it as the nicotine can stain the aligners. This will defeat the purpose of invisible orthodontic treatment.
How often do I need to wear Invisalign aligners?
You should wear the aligners at least 20 to 22 hours per day. You’ll want to take them out to eat and brush and floss your teeth.
Will the aligners interfere with my speech?
Just like with any orthodontic treatment it takes a few days to get used to having something foreign in your mouth. Most patients don’t notice any change in their speech but others may notice a slight lisp for a day or two. It will quickly disappear and your speech will go back to normal.
How long will treatment take?
The duration of your treatment will depend on the complexity of your case. Dr. Lee can give you an idea of how long it will take at your free consultation. It could take as little six months or be similar to the treatment time associated with traditional braces.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
The main advantage of Invisalign is that the aligners are virtually invisible and unless someone really looks closely at your mouth, people won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing them. The convenience also can’t be beat as you can take them out to brush and floss your teeth and there are no food restrictions.
How do I clean my aligners?
Simply brush your aligners and then rinse them with lukewarm water.
How often will I need to visit Dr. Lee during treatment?
You’ll need to come in for appointments approximately every six weeks or so to ensure your treatment is on track. Dr. Lee will let you know the exact frequency.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for Invisalign?
A variety of orthodontic cases can be treated with Invisalign. Dr. Lee will determine if Invisalign can improve your smile during a complimentary consultation.
How much does Invisalign cost?
Contrary to popular belief, Invisalign treatment doesn’t necessary cost a lot more than other treatments. Invisalign fees vary depending on the complexity of your case and the length of treatment. The best way to get a set figure is to come in for free consultation with Dr. Lee. For your convenience, we offer in-office, no-interest financing for Invisalign and a special full-payment plan option as well.
